Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know before booking — from insurance and cost to what your first visit looks like.
Getting Started
Start by booking a free 20-minute video consultation. This gives us a chance to hear about your goals and symptoms, answer your questions, and determine if we’re the right fit. You can book online or call (828) 415-5171.
No. North Carolina allows direct access to physical therapy — you can book directly with us without a physician referral. Bring any imaging or records if you have them, but they’re not required.
Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows us to observe your movement. Bring any relevant medical records, imaging reports, or surgical notes if you have them. Arrive a few minutes early to complete intake paperwork.
Insurance & Cost
We are a private-pay (out-of-network) practice and do not bill insurance directly. This lets us spend significantly more time with each patient and provide truly individualized care. We provide superbills you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Our rates reflect the quality and individualized time we invest in each patient. The free 20-minute consultation is a great first step to discuss pricing and what to expect. Contact us at (828) 415-5171 or info@mountainwellnesspt.com for current rates.
Yes. Physical therapy is a qualified medical expense, and most FSA and HSA accounts can be used to pay for PT services. Check with your plan administrator to confirm.
Our Services
Pelvic floor PT addresses dysfunction in the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue supporting the bladder, bowel, and uterus. It effectively treats urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse, painful intercourse, and postpartum recovery — usually without surgery or medication.
Dry needling uses thin filiform needles to release trigger points in muscles, reduce pain, and restore movement. It’s based on Western anatomy and neuroscience — not Traditional Chinese Medicine like acupuncture. Charlotte is certified in integrative dry needling.
ASTYM is a soft tissue therapy using specialized handheld instruments to stimulate cellular healing, reduce scar tissue, and regenerate healthy tendons and muscles. It’s particularly effective for chronic tendon pain, plantar fasciitis, IT band syndrome, and post-surgical scarring.
Yes. For trail runners, mountain bikers, and other outdoor athletes, we offer sport-specific evaluations in your actual environment, which gives us far more useful diagnostic information than a clinic assessment alone. Ask about availability when booking.
Women’s Health
Perimenopause is the hormonal transition before menopause, typically beginning in a woman’s 40s. Fluctuating estrogen and progesterone affect tendons, ligaments, cartilage, muscles, bone density, the pelvic floor, and recovery capacity. A PT who understands this treats the whole picture — and gets much better results.
No. Urinary leakage, pelvic pain, and prolapse are common, but they are not inevitable or untreatable. Pelvic floor PT has an excellent evidence base for these conditions at all ages. It’s never too late.
Locations & Logistics
We have two WNC locations: 101 Black Mountain Ave, Black Mountain NC 28711, and 5 Sweeten Creek Rd, Asheville NC 28803. We serve patients throughout Asheville, Black Mountain, Swannanoa, Weaverville, and greater Western North Carolina.
Yes. We offer virtual consultations and coaching follow-ups for patients who cannot attend in person. Some assessments require in-person visits, but we’ll find the right combination for you.
Initial evaluations are typically 60–90 minutes; follow-ups are usually 45–60 minutes. As a private-pay practice we’re not constrained by 15-minute insurance slots — you get the time your care actually requires.
